Debony Heart, Program Director

A native Philadelphian, Heart earned an Associate's degree at The Community College of Philadelphia. She then joined the US Navy, where she studied electricity and electronics. In 1983, she moved to the Washington, DC metropolitan area and worked as a technical writer for corporate and government clients. While semi-retired in Florida in 1999, she heard from her niece about Byte Back and became a Byte Back Intern in order to upgrade her skills and re-enter the workforce. Throughout her internship, Heart submerged herself in sustaining Byte Back. Gifted with the ability to see the big picture, Heart contributed to many areas of the organization. After graduating from Byte Back's Intern Program in January 2002, she was a Byte Back Fellow for one year. In February 2003, she was hired as the Community Academy Coordinator, managing class schedules, recruiting and assigning volunteers, and assisting in fostering relationships between Byte Back and other organizations.
